The ROI of protecting your intellectual property as a Micro-ISV

Gluttony

The internet is a pirate’s paradise, no doubt about that.

At the click of a mouse, empowering the anonymous sharing of digital files to anyone who wants them.

Since the day I began both giving and selling content online, piracy has been an issue.

An issue that has been up until Google’s recent announcement on deranking pirate sites, growing at an alarming rate and causing me a daily headache.

Removing content from filesharing sites is a notoriously difficult, frustrating and more often than not, fruitless process. Continue Reading

Cut the buffers, cut the bullshit

Gluttony

We all make excuses to ourselves to do the things we want.

For example;

The dieting Mom who eats the last piece of cake from the tin because if she doesn’t it’ll go bad and be wasted.

The Freelancer taking a 30 minute break from his Continue Reading

Walk at the pace of your audience

Harlequin Great Dane Pup

I have a 5 year old pet Harlequin Great Dane called Amos. The above picture is him as a puppy – I know, he was so cute…

Now he weighs 12 stone and can look down at you when he stands on is hind legs. Not so cute anymore!

When he’s tired, he becomes a real pain in the ass to walk on his leash. If you couldn’t already guess, trying to pull along a 12 stone animal that doesn’t want to go any faster is kinda hard. In fact, it’s near impossible. Continue Reading

One vital ingredient for building a successful online business

Passion Fruit

Passion.

Several times recently, I’ve been asked if I can offer any tips on what it takes to set up a successful online business.

Beside the usual business-school lingo, yes, I can.

Actually, I can offer a huge array of tips.

However, there is a problem from the outset here.

A problem with the very question at hand and the reason it’s being asked. Continue Reading

The Business of Free: Utilising a business model of giving things away for free

A couple of weeks back, a friend and I were relaxing in the city centre and decided to check out a new pop-up vodka shop.

The shop had a variety of flavoured vodkas on sale, ranging from the likes of sickly-sweet toffee to awfully sour lemon. Each vodka a premium brand and sold at a premium rate.

To promote their products, the shop allowed you a single shot of any (and each) of the vodkas, and at a guess – there must have been 40 different bottles to choose from.

We sat at the bar chatting for a while, trying a different shot every 5-10 minutes.

They were lovely.

However, after about 8 shots, it’s safe to say we knew there’d be consequences and as so, decided to leave the shop and retire to the relaxing atmosphere of a local pub.

We sat in the pub for a good hour or two, nursing a couple of beers before heading out on to the town.

My Business, Websites & I

The Original Ecoco Media Homepage

Introducing me, Adam.

Adam McIntyre

The reason you’ve landed here is most probably because you were using one of my sites and you clicked on some of my credits.

Two of my most popular foundings to date are Ecoco Media and FlyerHeroes.

The primary reason behind me writing this blog for you to read, is firstly to have a personal place where I can air my views and opinions, and take some time to write about what I’m doing behind the scenes here at Ecoco.

Secondly, I think it’s about time I put some effort into creating a place for the members of Ecoco Media’s online communities to connect with me on a personal level.

Yano, without all the website-branding kafuffle in the way. Continue Reading
